What is the object of the game?
The object of the game is to maneuver, by head, feet, or hand, a ball 27 to 28 in. (about 70 cm) in circumference into net-enclosed goals at opposite ends of a pool. The two competing teams consist of seven players each, one of whom is the goalie. Only one hand may be used to advance the ball.
How many players on a team?
There are seven players in the water for each team at any given time- six field players and a goalie. The home team wears white caps, the visiting team blue caps, and goalies wear red caps with the number “1″ in white or blue.
How does the game begin?
A game begins with the ball in the center of the pool and both teams sprint for it from their own goal lines. The ball can be advanced by passing with one hand or “dribbling,” swimming with the head above the water and the ball between the arms so it rides on the wave created by the swimmer’s head. No player except the goalie can hold the ball with two hands.
Are there referees?
Yes, there are two referees that pace the sides of the pool calling fouls. Defensive players are not allowed to interfere with an opponent’s movements unless the player is holding the ball. A penalty shot, taken from the five-meter line, is awarded for fouls near the cage that prevent a probable goal.
For minor fouls, a free throw is awarded from the spot of the foul. The player taking the free throw may pass the ball or drop it onto the water and pick it up again to put it into play. At least two players must touch the ball after a free throw before a goal can be scored.
How long is a game?
A game is divided into quarters that are seven minutes in length. After a tie, there are two overtime periods of three minutes each. If the game is still tied after the overtime periods the teams participate in a five-meter penalty shoot-out.

Game Variation 1: Wheelchair Basketball
Wheelchair basketball, as the name suggests, is played in wheelchairs. The chairs are specially designed so they move quickly and easily down the court. They also are made so players can be agile, much like players in traditional basketball.
Wheelchair basketball is a serious sport that is regulated by the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF).
Game Variation 2: Water Basketball
Water basketball, again as the name suggests, is played in water. It can be recreational or as a team regulated sport. In water basketball the rules are a little different. The rules for water basketball combine rules for traditional court basketball and water polo. There is, obviously, no dribbling involved in water basketball.
Game Variation 3: Beach Basketball
Beach basketball is played on the beach and is quite different than other types of basketball. It is not as strict and much more of a physical game than basketball.
Beach basketball is played on a circular court with no backboard on the hoop. There is no dribbling because it is too difficult on the sand. The ball is moved down the court instead by passing or 2 ½ steps. There is also no out of bounds in beach basketball.
Game Variation 4: Informal Basketball
Informal basketball really is not an actual name for a type of basketball, but it is used here to simply describe the type of basketball that most people play – basketball where you are just playing for the fun of the sport. The best kind!
Informal play can have any rules you like, as long as everyone playing agrees to them. There may not even be any organized play, but rather people simply making baskets and having fun.
Basketball is a very flexible sport. It can be played almost anywhere and in anyway you can imagine. In fact, it probably has been played almost everyway imaginable because it is such a popular sport. The thing about basketball that remains the same is making the basket. Every variation of the sport involves a ball and basket with the ultimate goal being to get the ball through the basket to score.
So, no matter how you play basketball it is the right way as long as you have the ball and hoop. You can play whatever way feels best for you with whatever rules you want. You can play with as many players as you want on whatever type of court you want. The bottom line is that you just have fun while you are doing it.

I just found out that i made the water polo team for tchs. I have never played water polo befor so i dont know what is going on at all, i know the rules and thats about it, K lets get to it…. Should i shave my legs, arms, pubics, and armpits?, should i wear a layers of spedos and if so how many? And do u have to streep naked in front of all the guys on the team sence i dont wear my speedo all say as under wwear?
